Archon does not charge anything for model usage. Any token costs are billed directly by the AI provider you connect, such as OpenAI, Google, or Anthropic.

BYOK means Bring Your Own Keys. You configure your own API keys for each provider you want to use. Archon handles key storage and usage securely but does not own or meter model usage.

The download packages work with your existing AI coding tool (Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, etc.) and add context-aware intelligence on top. Your AI gains fix-first code review, AI slop detection, systematic debugging, ship readiness tracking, scope management, and self-regulation guardrails — all triggered automatically based on what you're doing. No separate AI subscription required.

Instead of requiring you to type commands, ArchonDev teaches your AI to detect what you're doing — editing frontend files, hitting a bug, finishing a feature, adding scope — and proactively offer the right capability at the right moment. You can always skip any suggestion. The governance comes to you.

AI-generated designs have recognizable patterns — purple gradient heroes, 3-column icon grids, uniform rounded corners, shadow on everything. ArchonDev checks your frontend code against a 10-item blacklist of these anti-patterns and scores your UI from A (original) to F (obvious AI slop). It helps you ship work that looks intentionally designed, not cookie-cutter.

Download builds use no AI models — they enhance the AI tool you already have. In the CLI, Archon can optionally use a low-cost Gemini Flash model only for onboarding help during API key setup.
